Sean Bean Plans to Behave Badly on The Island

The Hollywood Reporter says Sean Bean ("The Lord of the Rings," "Patriot Games") has joined director Michael Bay's "The Island."

According to the Reporter, Bean will be the film's "chief antagonist" (i.e. Bad Guy). He'll star opposite Ewan McGregor and Scarlett Johansson.

So what's this "Island" thing all about? Full details are unavailable, but it has something to do with a guy (McGregor) who discovers that his utopian surroundings aren't all that utopian. In an interview with Creative Mac, Bay says the movie will be "a very hard look at cloning ..." The quote's not much, I know, but we're now assured that "The Island" will not be a cloning romantic comedy. So we've got that going for us.

"The Island" is scheduled for release in July 2005. For more news on this project check out our spotlight page. -- Mac Slocum
