J.J. Abrams Plans Mission: Impossible Changes

USA Today profiled writer/producer/director J.J. Abrams recently and buried deep within the text is an interesting "Mission: Impossible 3" tidbit.

According to Abrams -- who will direct the third "Impossible" film -- the next installment will feature the obligatory stunts and spectacle, but it will also delve into the character of Ethan Hunt.

Yes, you read that correctly -- the words "character" and "Mission: Impossible" are linked together without any qualifiers or sarcasm. What's next? Building the movie around plot instead of set pieces?

"Mission: Impossible 3" is scheduled for release in summer 2006. For more "Mission: Impossible" news check out our spotlight page. -- Mac Slocum
