Stellan Skarsgard Joins Pirates of the Caribbean Sequels

Comingsoon.net says Stellan Skarsgard ("King Arthur") has signed on for two "Pirates of the Caribbean" sequels. Skarsgard will play "Bootstraps" Turner, the pirate father of Orlando Bloom's character.

Comingsoon also says original "Pirates" star Geoffrey Rush is in negotiations for the third film. While this may seem like putting the pirate ship before the horse ... or something ... "Pirates" producer Jerry Bruckheimer has designs on filming the second and third installments simultaneously. Bloom, Johnny Depp, and Keira Knightley have all officially enlisted for more booty duty.

Production on "Pirates of the Carbbean 2" and "3" will likely begin sometime this year. -- Mac Slocum
