So what the hell is a roll-up? It's the technical term for the rolling title sequences seen at the beginning of each film. The roll-ups aim to set the stage for the impending action, and they've worked to decent effect in every "Star Wars" movie except "Episode I" ("The taxation of trade routes to outlying star systems is in dispute"? Oh yeah. I can feel the heat from that sentence).
The "Episode III" roll-up reads:
Episode IIINote: The odd spacing is intentional. According to John Knoll, "Star Wars" visual effects supervisor, the roll-up's line breaks are ultimately determined by George Lucas.
