The $173 million success of "Elf" has New Line Cinema salivating for more pointy-hat hijinks from Will Ferrell. According to Variety, the studio is negotiating with Ferrell for "Elf 2."
Directing duties have not been assigned. It's not known if New Line believes original "Elf" director Jon Favreau is so money he doesn't even know it. Scott Armstrong ("Old School") will write the "Elf 2" script.
Editor's Note: I'm officially launching my "Zooey Deschanel in Elf 2" campaign. Not only should Deschanel return for the follow-up, she should also sing in every scene. Thank you.
We'll be following additional "Elf 2" developments on our "Elf" spotlight page. -- Mac Slocum
