Will Ferrell Visits Land of the Lost

The Hollywood Reporter says Will Ferrell has signed on to star in an adaptation of "Land of the Lost."

The original '70s TV series focused on Rick Marshall and his two children. After getting sucked into a time vortex, the trio is plopped in a prehistoric world where dinosaurs and horrific special effects lie around every turn.

Proving that the filmmakers understand the camp qualities of the series, the film adaptation will be a comedy. Thank God for that -- the last thing anyone needs is a self-serious update of a kitsch TV show (I'm looking at you "Lost in Space").

Ferrell will reteam with his "Anchorman" director Adam McKay on "Land of the Lost." A production schedule and release date have not been announced. -- Mac Slocum
