All of Me Remake in the Works

New Line Cinema will remake the 1984 Steve Martin comedy "All of Me." No one knows why they'd do such a thing.

Variety says the new version aims to maintain the "spirit" of the original while updating the "technology involved and comedy, as well as give it a more hip sensibility." Anyone know what that means? Anyone?

The original followed a dying rich woman (Lily Tomlin) who arranges to have her soul transferred into a younger woman's body. Alas, the procedure goes awry and the woman ends up controlling the right side of her attorney's body (Martin).

Variety says New Line wants to cast Wanda Sykes ("Down to Earth") as the rich woman. Brent Goldberg and David Wagner ("Van Wilder") have been hired to write the screenplay. -- Mac Slocum
