According to Ain't It Cool News, personal issues forced Vaughn to leave the production. Coming Soon suggests that the distance between Vaughn's home in London and the "X-Men 3" set in Vancouver would have forced Vaughn to uproot his family.
Regardless, Vaughn has left and now "X-Men 3" needs a director. Avi Arad, chairman and CEO of Marvel Studios, tells Ain't It Cool News that a replacement will be announced in the next few days. Arad says the schedule for "X-Men 3" has not been altered and the film is still slated for a May 2006 release.
Vaughn's departure marks the second directorial shake-up for "X-Men 3." Last year, "X-Men" director Bryan Singer ditched the franchise to helm the next Superman film.
