Rambo IV Marches In

Sylvester Stallone as Rambo The critical barbs levied against "Get Carter," "Driven" and other cinematic nonsense have pushed Sylvester Stallone back into the safe embrace of a gun-toting veteran.

E! Online says "Rambo IV" is in the early stages of production. Stallone will again star as the roid-ragin' Green Beret. He'll also write the screenplay.

Stallone tells E! that "Rambo IV" will be a character-driven story focusing on Rambo's family. You know, just like "Ordinary People" ... except with high-powered weapons.

The "Rambo IV" plot kicks into gear when Rambo's 10-year-old daughter (yes, he has one now) is kidnapped by white supremacists. Rambo uses his keen killing skills to bring his baby back.

Filming on "Rambo IV" will begin early next year with an eye toward a late 2006 or early 2007 release.

Stallone will be busy in the months ahead. In addition to "Rambo IV" he also plans to direct an Edgar Allen Poe biopic from his own script. It's Sly Mania all over again! -- Mac Slocum
