Poseidon Adventure Finds a Cast

The Hollywood Reporter says Kurt Russell, Richard Dreyfuss and Emmy Rossum ("The Phantom of the Opera") will star in "The Poseidon Adventure." Andre Braugher ("Homicide: Life on the Street") is negotiating to board the disaster flick.

Directed by Wolfgang Petersen ("Troy"), this remake follows the perilous journey of the S.S. Poseidon. When the ship is flipped by a tidal wave, the Poseidon's passengers -- a group that will undoubtedly include all races, creeds and orientations -- are forced to work together to survive. Trial-by-fire leadership and cliched heroism are sure to be showcased every five minutes.

The film is slated for a May 2006 release. -- Mac Slocum

Update: Josh Lucas ("Sweet Home Alabama") has also joined the cast, according to The Hollywood Reporter (6/7).
