Production Halted on Watchmen Movie

Paramount's adaptation of the "Watchmen" comic book series has been moved to the morgue. Variety says Paramount shut down production over the weekend and now the "Watchmen" production team is shopping the project to other studios. Director Paul Greengrass is still attached to the film.

Variety says "Watchmen's" rumored $100 million budget didn't sit well with Paramount executives, so they shut the whole thing down. It'll be interesting to see if Paramount's money concerns spread to other productions, such as the long-delayed "Mission: Impossible 3."
