Keri Russell Cast in Mission: Impossible 3

Variety reports that "Felicity" star Keri Russell will reunite with director J.J. Abrams in "Mission: Impossible 3." Back in 1998, Abrams vaulted Russell (and her hair) into pop culture consciousness by casting the relative unknown as the titular character on his college TV drama, "Felicity."

In her latest gig, Russell will play an Impossible Mission agent-in-training. She takes over for Scarlett Johansson, who recently left the film. Russell also protects the moviegoing public from the nepotistic casting of Katie Holmes. Thanks for that, Keri. We all owe you one.

"Mission: Impossible 3" is slated for release in July 2006. For more "Mission: Impossible" news visit our "Mission: Impossible" spotlight page. -- Mac Slocum
