Variety says Universal has acquired the former FBI agent's life story, including those parking garage encounters with Washington Post reporter Bob Woodward. Universal also purchased "life rights" to Felt's family and attorney John O'Connor, the Felt family representative who unmasked Felt's Deep Throat connection in the July issue of Vanity Fair.
So who's going to play Felt/Throat in the movie? The front runner has to be Playtone partner Tom Hanks. Hanks' acting involvement hasn't been announced, but the two-time Oscar winner has already signed on as a producer. And here's a suggestion for the "Deep Throat" crew: Cast Hal Holbrook in a J. Edgar Hoover cameo role.
