New DVD Releases: August 2, 2005

Alexander (2004)
I used to think Oliver Stone was very cool. Colin Farrell -- not so much. The two come together to make a very mediocre movie. Angelina Jolie costars as Farrell's mother. 'Nuff said.

The Boatniks (1970)
It's not exactly "The Love Boat," but it does have Norman Fell and "Grandpa" Al Lewis. Laughs ahoy!

The Cosby Show - Season One (1984)
Get ready to reminisce on some of the sweetest sweaters in TV history.

Cypher (2002)
Right after Lucy Liu was christened an angel, she starred in this low-budget sci-fi flick with Jeremy Northam.

The Dukes of Hazzard - The Complete Fourth Season (1981)
This is around the time when Bo and Luke were getting right sick of living under Uncle Jessie's roof. Just in time for the big-screen release this week!

Elvis Has Left the Building (2004)
Someone is murdering Elvis impersonators. Hey -- I've got my alibi.

Evel Knievel (2005)
That guy that almost lost his job on "CSI" starts as the world famous daredevil. Good thing he kept his day job.

Glass Trap (2004)
It's good to see C. Thomas Howell still works. I just don't want to actually see any of his movies.

Guess Who (2005)
Guess who has ruined a classic? Ashton Kutcher and Bernie Mac -- that's who!

The High and the Mighty - Collector's Edition (1959)
John Wayne's first film in CinemaScope finally comes to DVD.

Hoover Street Revival (2003)
This documentary takes a slice out of LA church life.

Island in the Sky (1953)
The Duke manages to keep his crew in good spirits as they await rescue from a plane crash.

Johnny Tremain (1957)
One of my fondest grade school reading requirements comes to life thanks to Disney.

Pippi Longstocking (1997)
A not-so-great animated interpretation of the kiddie classic.

Over There - The Battle Begins - Pilot Episode (2005)
Have tissues handy for this pilot of FX's acclaimed series on the Iraq war.

Throttle (2005)
Bad dialogue and an overuse chase plot -- it's a bargain bin film in the making!

The World's Greatest Athlete (1973)
Tim Conway, Jan-Michael Vincent and John Amos star in this Disney classic about a coach that finds his dream athlete in his African travels.

The X-Files Mythology - Black Oil (2005)
This case is far from closed! In case you haven't collected everything related to this series, this 4-DVD set highlights seasons 3 through 5.
