Nicole Kidman Battles Sneaky Aliens

Nicole Kidman The Hollywood Reporter says Nicole Kidman is circling the starring role in "Invasion," a sci-fi flick about an alien epidemic.

"Invasion" aims to distance itself from the "shoot-the-green-guys" genre by focusing on a disease-based alien attack. Kidman, should she officially join the production, will play a psychiatrist who ties a rash of erratic human behavior to an extraterrestrial cause.

Hmm. Erratic human behavior? I wonder if Kidman's ex has already been infected ...

The Reporter notes that "Invasion" originally began as a remake of "Invasion of the Body Snatchers," but Warner Bros. opted to go the original route (how novel!) after reading David Kajganich's script.

Production is scheduled to begin in September. Oliver Hirschbiegel ("The Experiment") will direct. -- Mac Slocum
