Hollywood Reporter has an in depth article about Wolfgang Petersen and his upcoming film, "Poseidon." In it, they report that the studio has committed it to be the lead off of the summer season. Poseidon is a remake of the 1972 film of "The Poseidon Adventure." Other than the major plot point of a boat in peril, the new movie will be a completely different movie with different characters, written by Mark Protosevich ("The Cell.")
Petersen goes on to describe his penchant with water based tragedy films like "Das Boot" and "A Perfect Storm." He also points out that his take on the Poseidon story will be "much more realistic than the '72 movie. It was wonderful, but quite campy, a little bit. " This is a bit rich coming from the auteur responsible for "Air Force One." --Terrence Ryan
Actually that's a picture of Wolfgang Petersen.
