De Niro Picks Up Mafia Flick

Robert De Niro ComingSoon has a nugget about a very far away role for Robert De Niro. He will play a retired hitman in the film adaptation of the soon to be released "The Winter of Frankie Machine" by Don Winslow. The plot revolves around the retired hitman being dragged back into the business when he becomes the target of a hit. De Niro's production company, Tribeca Films, will produce bankrolled by Paramount.

Of course, the book isn't out yet, there isn't a writer signed on to adapt the novel, and already De Niro's on board? This must be an incredible book. --Terrence Ryan
