John Singleton to take on Afghanistan

John Singleton Coming Soon has it that director John Singleton ("Four Brothers") willing be helming "Convoy." "Convoy" will tell the story of American contractors who take year-long stints making supply runs in post 9/11 Afghanistan. Already on the docket for Singleton in 2006, is "John Cage," so it is unclear when work will begin.

The interesting nugget I got out of the article was the interesting juxtaposition going on in the story. According to the article, the contractors take the job due to their own financial hardships. They then go to a country torn apart by poverty and war, because somehow there's money in it. It's an interesting oxymoron, and it will be interesting to see an Oscar award winners take on it. --Terrence Ryan
