Tom Cruise's box office drawing power may be losing steam, but the couch-jumping star still had enough juice to block "Poseidon" from last weekend's top slot.
"Mission: Impossible III" claimed the movie crown with $25 million in its second week of release. "Poseidon" came in second with only $22.2 million. Of course, "only" is a relative term. I'd be very happy to make $22.2 million in a weekend, but since "Poseidon" cost between $150-$170 million to produce, you can see how $22.2 million isn't cause for celebration.
Sidenote: "Poseidon" might suck, but the film's upside-down poster is slick. And at $20 a pop it would only take 8.5 million individual sales to make back that $170 million. -- Mac Slocum
