The Hollywood Reporter says "Underworld" helmer Len Wiseman is negotiating to direct the fourth "Die Hard" film.
To date, Wiseman's directorial experience has focused exclusively on vampires and werewolves and his wife. All three of these things came together in Wiseman's two films: "Underworld" and the sequel, "Underworld: Evolution." (And just in case you're wondering, Wiseman is married to "Underworld" star Kate Beckinsale).
The Reporter also notes that the film's title might be in flux. The project has long been known as "Die Hard 4.0," which always made me cringe because it's never good to diminish a phenomenal franchise with ephemeral tech references. However, this Reporter sentence gives me hope:
"Mark Bomback and Doug Richardson penned the screenplay, which at one point was titled 'Die Hard 4.0'."Hopefully, "which at one point" means that ".0" business is over with.
As for the film itself, Bruce Willis recently told a Cannes Film Festival audience that shooting will soon begin. Producers are aiming for a 2007 release. -- Mac Slocum
