According
to Variety,
"South Park"
creators Trey Parker
and Matt Stone are
set to do two new live-action films with Paramount.
Parker and Stone will first make the high school comedy "My All-American," followed by "Giant Monsters Attack Japan!" - a film that will combine live-action with the Godzilla-type "rubber suit" techniques.
As with their other films, both will work on the scripts with the writers and Parker will direct with Stone producing.
The films will mark a return to live-action for the duo. They have not helmed a film with "real" actors since the pre-"South Park" features "Cannibal: The Musical!" and "Orgazmo." (Parker and Stone both starred in the live-action "BASEketball," but did not write or direct it.)
No word on whether or not these films will be musicals, but based on
Parker and Stone's track record I think it's a safe bet that
"All-American" and/or "Giant Monsters" will have at least a few catchy tunes to
warp our poor little minds. Just when I thought I'd finally
gotten that "Now
You're A Man" song out of my head.
"All-American" is slated for a 2007 production start, set to coincide with a hiatus from "South Park," which launches its 10th season this week. -- Shannon Nolley
