Robbins Joins Murphy Aboard "Starship Dave"

Brian RobbinsAccording to Variety, director Brian Robbins and Eddie Murphy are will be working together again, this time for "Starship Dave," Murphy's next project with 20th Century Fox.

Robbins ("The Shaggy Dog," "Varsity Blues") recently helmed the DreamWorks comedy "Norbit," starring Murphy, which is due out in February. Based on their "Norbit" relationship, Murphy gave Robbins the "Starship" script.

"Starship Dave" is the story of a crew of miniature, human-looking aliens who are seeking a way to save their doomed world. Murphy will play the human spacecraft they travel in (Starship Dave) as well as the ship's captain.

If the picture of Robbins (on the right) gives you that "I know him from somewhere" kind of feeling, you're not crazy. He's been a successful producer/director for a while now, but in the mid to late 80's he was an actor on such TV classics as "Head of the Class," "Charles in Charge," "The Facts of Life" and many others. Imagine him with a lot more hair.

Filming on "Starship Dave" is slated to begin in March. -- Shannon Nolley
