Alan Rickman has signed on for Tim Burton's ensemble musical "Sweeney Todd," according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter and Sacha Baron Cohen have already joined the project, based on the Stephen Sondheim Broadway musical.
Rickman will play the wicked Judge Turpin, the man who unjustly imprisons Benjamin Barker (Depp's character). Barker returns as the barber Sweeney Todd and exacts revenge.
Rickman just wrapped "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix," the latest installment of the "Harry Potter" series. He can currently be seen on the big screen in the recently released "Perfume: The Story of a Murderer."
