"Hunger Force" Ad Prank "Suspects" Speak Out
The "suspects" in yesterday's debacle in Boston hosted a press conference to discuss the "big issue." What they talked about wasn't exactly what the press wanted to hear, however.
Peter Berdovsky and Sean Stevens were arrested yesterday after what Reuters has dubbed Boston's "biggest security scare since the Sept. 11 attacks." The two men were hired by Interference, Inc. to place light boards to promote Cartoon Network's TV show and upcoming movie "Aqua Teen Hunger Force."
Berdovsky and Stevens were released on a $2,500 bond each after pleading not guilty in state court to charges of placing a hoax device and disorderly conduct. The pair went before reporters outside the courtroom and instead of discussing the case, the two men launched into ... well... watch the video and find out.
When your lawyer tells you not to talk to the press about the details of your case, you don't talk about the details of your case. That doesn't mean you can't talk about something, though. It's brilliant.
Oh, and yes, I put "suspects" in quotes because it seems just too silly to call these guys suspects in a criminal investigation. There are plenty of big wigs to arrest if the court system is going to be invovled. -- Shannon Nolley

They gave a distinct impression of having shown up to their arraignment stoned to the gills. I'd assumed they'd spent the day yesterday (while waiting for the police to track them down) getting rid of all their drugs lest they be found by said police. Maybe they hadn't come down yet by the time of their arraignment?

Granted, it's INSANE for a "guerilla marketing" company to hide electronic devices in key areas around a city (especially if those devices have wires sticking out of them ... uh, duh), but to throw the book at these two morons is moronic in itself. The marketing company and Turner are the ones who should be reprimanded. The two chuckleheads who got toasty and then planted signs around the city aren't worth pursuing.
I don’t know how to find it entirely funny.
Our society is imploding in on itself.
The City of Boston went nuts, used no common sense, and came to a complete standstill as a result of bad judgment combined with six years of fear mongering.
Who knows who might not have gotten the life-saving medical care they needed in Beantown yesterday.
It makes me sad that our society is now as fragile as the clever placement of a couple of Lite Brites.
And the media never stopped tape. They aided in the continuation of a ridiculous series of events.
And the two doofusses exhibited the general “Playstation apathy and irreverence†that makes me fear that someday, everyone in the world will be so disconnected that no human will be capable
of accountability for any deed.
Now growing is a generation of entitled, super- slackers and sociopaths with a
‘Mountain Dew commercial’ attitude toward responsibility about anything.
I understand the inherent comic fodder of the situation, but I am frightened by the absurdist behavior of all parties involved.
It gives me a cultural sea-sickness.

In reaction to the panic, the department of homeland insecurity has applauded the publics' reaction to these adds? Anyone who got rattled over the apperance of these child's toys deserves a severe tongue lashing. a handfull of valium and a hit from the bong that Sean (or is it Peter) has stashed in his dreads.
This whole fiasco leads me to believe that the terrorists are winning. I am ashamed of us.
The mayor and DA are livid...why? Because, the overreaction by the city makes them look stupid and puts their re-election at risk. They hope, by their outrage, to convince us to be outraged, so they have piled it on thick. No mercy they say. FOR SHAME, they want to convince us that two innocent guys ought go to prison because, otherwise, they look bad. Next election, send the mayor and DA packing.

My 2 cents is this: I don't know if the city overreacted or not. I think these days, you are damned if you do and damned if you don't.
That said, instead of dragging it out every day in the news, the city should try to fix things quietly and quickly and get it out of people's minds. Right or wrong, it was a major embarrassment.
And no, I don't think those 2 guys should go to jail for what they did, but their complete lack of common sense during their press time makes them look bad and probably won't make a fan out of the city's judges.

after your point was made,it was time to stand and smile, even though I agree that a lot of folks these days, just don't get it until they're hit in the head a few hundred times.
These two guys are awesome. They are hilarious and witty. However, the city of Boston officials appear to be complete morons. The mooninite lite brights had been up for two weeks. Two Weeks! The worst part is the fact that they blew everything out of proportion and now won't just back down and say the f'd up. You'd think some of the intelligence from MIT and Havard would rub off. I hope Berdovsky and Stevens get a tv show, or cameos or something.

I live in Boston and work in a newsroom and I've witnessed this whole thing go out of control the past two days. I'm simply amazed at the city's reaction to this. People, average people, are livid at the two "suspects," not only for what they did (illegal posting, big crime), but for their "disrespectful attitude" in and out of court.
