Indiana Jones: Father Figure

Let's just get it out there, first off: Just like the casting of Natalie Portman and Sean Connery, it's all rumor until somebody from the actual production steps up and says "Yep, it's the truth." Maybe not even then. Maybe only when the movie comes out. You know how Hollywood works: Yes means No, No means Yes, Maybe means one or the other, but never just Maybe.

But IGN (among other places) is reporting that Shia LaBeouf is slotted to play... a character that might or might not be the progeny of Indiana Jones in the intricately titled "Fourth Installment of the Indiana Jones Adventures."

Now, for a second, let's just get past the fact that little Shia has a name too eerily similar to the wily lawman played by Glen Campbell in "True Grit". ... Okay, so I can't get past it.

IGN mainly sources Ain't It Cool News, which is generally an entertaining enough site. And supposedly Spielberg is currently enamored of LaBeouf thanks to his work in the upcoming projects "Disturbia" and "Transformers," which Spielberg had a hand in. Well, kids, I still say it could be worse. It could be Hayden Christensen, as chosen by George Lucas.
