Bateman Joins Reitman's "Juno"

Jason Reitman (son of Ivan and director of "Thank You for Smoking") is putting together a coming-of-age comedy about teen pregnancy, according to reports. Given Reitman's satiric eye, not to mention his lineage, I wouldn't be surprised if this was a de-facto subversion of those old "After School Specials."

The project is called "Juno" and Ellen Page is currently signed on as the title character. The cast also includes Allison Janney and Michael Cera, will play the father of the young woman's baby.

So, the movie will provide a reunion, of sorts, for two former "Arrested Development" cast members. Jason Bateman has just joined the project. He will play the husband of Jennifer Garner; they are interested in adopting the unborn baby sired by Cera's character. Cera played Bateman's son, George Michael Bluth, in the underwatched television series.

"Juno" is being produced for Fox Searchlight project; pre-production is underway in Vancouver, for a release date of later this year.
