As per tradition, the Razzies were handed out last night, a tongue-in-cheek (and try not to bite down too hard) ceremony to "honor" the worst and/or most dubious accomplishments in film for the prior year. Taking home the most Razzies, to almost nobody's surprise, was "Basic Instinct 2," which earned a total of four statuettes, though the Wayans comedy "Little Man" wasn't far behind with three total. (The Razzie Foundation actually took to calling the "Basic Instinct" sequel "Basically, It Stinks, Too," rather than it's proper name.)
Here's the full list of winners (or losers, depending on your outlook):
WORST PICTURE: "Basic Instinct 2"
WORST DIRECTOR: M. Night Shyamalan, for "Lady in the Water"
WORST ACTOR: (tie) Marlon and Shawn Wayans, for "Little Man"
WORST ACTRESS: Sharon Stone, for "Basic Instinct 2"
WORST SUPPORTING ACTOR: M. Night Shyamalan, for "Lady in the Water"
WORST SUPPORTING ACTRESS: Carmen Electra, for "Date Movie," and also for "Scary Movie 4"
WORST SCREEN COUPLE: Shawn Wayans and either Marlon Wayans or Kerry Washington, for "Little Man"
WORST SCREENPLAY: "Basic Instinct 2"
WORST PREQUEL OR SEQUEL: "Basic Instinct 2"
WORST REMAKE or RIP-OFF: "Little Man" [The Razzie folks consider this movie to be a rip-off of the 1954 Bugs Bunny cartoon "Baby Buggy Bunny," but I recall a "Little Rascals" short with a bank robber pretending to be a baby that obviously predates this.]
