Scorsese and Jagger to Rock in "Long Play"

Oscar-winning director Martin Scorsese (now there's a phrase that's been a long time coming) is all set to team up with Grammy-winning rocker Mick Jagger on a new film about the recording industry. "The Long Play" is to be scripted by William Monahan (who also won a "Departed"-related Oscar on Sunday), based on an idea from Jagger.

Jagger has been involved with the film world for decades, acting and producing. His production company, Jagged Films, was behind the 2001 Kate Winslet vehicle "Enigma" (in which Jagger appeared, uncredited, as a "Soldier in Bar"). His music has been utilized in several Scorsese films, including "Casino" and "The Departed," and the two have been collaborating on a Rolling Stones documentary, tentatively titled "Shine a Light," due this September.

Monahan also recently announced he is going to be working on a new project with Leonardo DiCaprio--proof that the Oscar does indeed translate to continued work. Just as long as you were connected to "The Departed."
