Galactus to Make Film Debut

There's been much speculation amongst comic fans as to the role (or non-role) of Galactus in the upcoming "Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer," due this summer. Thanks to a new trailer, we've all had a good look (at least those of us standing in the long popcorn line prior to a "Zodiac" screening this weekend have had a good look) at the Surfer himself. But what about his boss? You know--the Eater of Worlds, and whatnot?

The jury has been out, and in the meanwhile, the speculation on Al Gore's internets has been rampant. Of course, without Galactus, what purpose does the Surfer serve? That is, after all, the core of his moral character, that division between his duty and what his duty means. Unless the plan is to throw all that out the window and just produce another whiz-bang special effects movie (I mean, come on -- for the first movie they turned Doctor Doom into little more than a media-jealous crybaby, so draining the Surfer of his moral conundrum would certainly be no hurdle). C'mon, Mark Frost, you can do better than that...

Apparently, they plan to. Tim Story, in returning to the director's chair, has also started a MySpace page, just like Ellen DeGeneres. On the blog there (linked below), he says the following: "We haven't finished the design of him/it so be careful about what you read and believe. Trust me...no one knows. One things for sure, you can expect to see him/it."

Okey-doke. We have Galactus. So now all we fanboys have to worry about is: will he be a dude in a purple metal suit, or will he be that hive-thingy?
