Fantastic All-Female Cast Solidifying for Remake of "The Women"
Diane English has finally managed to get her cast mostly set for the remake of “The Womenâ€, originally from 1939. The stars that have either signed or are committed so far are: Meg Ryan, Annette Bening, Eva Mendes, Jada Pinkett Smith, Debra Messing and Candice Bergen.
All this comes according to Variety. The movie is only slated to have a $20 million budget that has been financed by Inferno Entertainment, Picturehouse and Dove (the soap, not the chocolate...mmmm..chocolate). The picture is being produced by Jagged Pictures, with Diane and Bill Johnson from Inferno.
This is not the first time this movie has been looked at for a re-make. Back in 1994, James Brooks was interested in making the movie with Meg Ryan and Julia Roberts. Diane English was originally set to re-write the script way back then, and has since come on as director too.
The original movie starred Joan Crawford, Norma Shearer, Rosalind Russel, Hedda Hopper and Joan Fontaine to name just a few.
