Rachel Weisz to team up with Peter Jackson

Most of you know Rachel Weisz from her foray as Evelyn Carnahan-O’Connell from “The Mummy” and “The Mummy Returns”. Others will remember her winning last year’s Best Supporting Actress Oscar for the role of Tessa Quayle in “The Constant Gardener”. Some, like me, will remember enjoying her performance in “The Fountain” with Hugh Jackman.

Well, according to Variety, Rachel has a new project lined up. She is set to star in an adaptation of the Alice Sebold novel “The Lovely Bones”. The script was adapted by the “Lord of the Rings” adapters Peter Jackson, Philippa Boyens and Fran Walsh.

Jackson is also said to be directing the picture for DreamWorks starting this coming October. Paramount Pictures is slated to distribute.

The film is supposed to be shot in Pennsylvania and New Zealand. I wonder if Jackson will be taking us to the Shire again. No, probably not. Ah, well, maybe I’ll just wait for “The Hobbit”. Sigh.
