Ryan Gosling to Join "The Lovely Bones"

The newest cast member set to join Rachel Weisz and Peter Jackson in the movie version of “The Lovely Bones” is Ryan Gosling. You all will remember Ryan from “The Notebook” and “Half Nelson”.

According to Variety, Gosling is joining the cast as the father figure. I have not read the book, however, a simplified version of the plot (thanks again to Variety) revolves around the murder of a young girl who keeps an eye on her family and her murderer from heaven. Rachel Weisz is set to play the mother role. Hmmm, I wonder if it is in the story that the mother is 10 years older than the father, or is that just special casting. Not that he will not be able to hold his own, I mean he was nominated for an Oscar for his work in “Half Nelson” after all.
