Jim Carrey to Star in "A Christmas Carol"

The man of a thousand faces, Jim Carrey, is set to play at least four more in an upcoming version of "The Christmas Carol". Jim has so far agreed to perform the roles of Ebenezer Scrooge and the three ghosts that visit him during that fateful night.

According to Variety, Robert Zemeckis has penned the adaptation and is set to direct the picture as well. Zemeckis will probably be remembered by most of you for his serious films like "Cast Away" and "What Lies Beneath". I will always identify him with the "Back to the Future" series of movies. If you are wondering whether "A Christmas Carol" will be a good fit for him, be sure to check out "The Frighteners" (a fantastic thriller from the mid 1990's).

The upcoming movie will be using lots of techniques that were employed in "The Polar Express" and "Monster House". It will use a lot of performance capture and three-dimensional effects. They are hoping to continue with the same kind of techniques they will be using to film the upcoming "Beowulf" with Angelina Jolie.
