Christopher Walken Has "Balls of Fury"
About three weeks ago I started a new job right in the heart of New York City’s Soho neighborhood. My new gig is on the 9th floor of a really cool, probably really old, fourteen-story building on Bleecker Street. Every morning, I get on the 6 (just like J.Lo), and walk out of the station to my building. After a “I’m acknowledging your presence so you don’t think I’m a dick†head nod to the security guy/weather man (“Hot out there, huh?â€) I find a nice spot to stand in the lobby and wait…and wait. You see apparently the elevators in my new building run on steam. And of course there’s only one guy in the basement shoveling coal into the furnace at the busiest times of the day.Anyway, while I wait for the veal-stall sized elevator to arrive, I’m typically joined by one, to a handful of other folks going to their respective places of employ. On my second day of work I was joined in the elevator by a casually dressed man I'll call “Tom.†Now, I’m calling him “Tom†because I didn’t actually ask his name (or talk to him at all) as we were both rocking out to our iPods. Well, I was rocking out to “I Remember You†by Skid Row; “Tom†could have been listening to a Rush Limbaugh audiobook, I have no idea. The point is, “Tom†was going to get off on the third floor. Seeing as how this was my first week, and I had no idea who else was in the building, I figured I’d take the opportunity to sneak a peek when the doors opened. Well, you’re not gonna believe where “Tom†works. Right in my very own building is a full fledged, fully functional, full…of people movie studio.
Rogue Films/Focus Features New York headquarters is located in my building. The studio that brought the world such “classics†as, “Shaun of the Dead,â€and “Assault on Precinct 13â€, not to mention the upcoming, “Balls of Fury,†and “Talk to Me†is located 6 floors below me. This may not seem like a big deal to you, but to a movie geek like me it’s just awesome.
Yes I know I’ll probably never even set foot on that floor. But it’s there, and that’s just cool. Maybe one day I’ll be headed back up from lunch and Christopher Walken (who’s in “Balls of Furyâ€), will be on his way to see some big shot movie exec. Hey, it could happen! (READ: not a chance in hell)
How sweet would that be though? To just be hanging out in the elevator with Walken. What would a conversation with him be like?
(NOTE: For the purposes of this experiment please read Christopher Walken dialogue as though you were in fact Christopher Walken. It'll help, trust me. You know you know the voice.)

INT. Veal-Stall Sized Elevator – 1:35 pm
The elevator doors come to a slow close. Mediaboy turns to Walken and says:

Um, hi. You’re Christopher Walken right?
Christopher Walker
As if…you didn’t already know. I mean…what are you…some kind of idiot or moron of some kind.
Mediaboy
No sir, I’m not an idiot. I was just trying to be polite as I did in fact know it was you. You see I’m kind of a movie geek and it’s just really cool to be sharing this elevator with you.
Christopher Walken
Well…thank you.
DING. The elevator signals the 3rd floor, the doors slowly open. Walken steps out onto the floor, pauses and then turns to Mediaboy
Christopher Walken
Just…a word of advice…ya know...for next time.
Mediaboy
Please. It would be an honor.
Christopher Walken
You don't have to wear the whole bottle of after shave.
The elevator doors slowly close.

Yea, that would be sweet.
So, now I come to work every morning, hoping that someone will be headed up to the 3rd floor. Just so that I can catch another glimpse into a world that’s millions of miles away; but just got 6 floors closer.
I hope to one day see my friend “Tom†again. And as the doors close he’ll turn to me, remove his earbuds and say, “Hey! Random going to work, rocking out to Skid Row guy, right? I could use a guy like you in my next film."
3rd floor, here I come. I just hope there's a guy shoveling coal that day.
