John Leguizamo to team up with Shyamalan

John Leguizamo, best known to me for his outrageously funny HBO comedy specials, is going to team up with M. Night Shyamalan and 20th Century Fox. According to Variety, the picture they will be working on is a thriller called "The Happening". (not to be confused with "What's Happeneing")

Leguizamo will play opposite Mark Wahlberg. Wahlberg stars as a family man that tries to save his family during a natural disaster and Leguizamo is his best friend.

The film will start production in Philadelphia with an expected release date in mid-2008.

John Leguizamo's career has run the gamut. From highs like "Spic-O-Rama", "Moulin Rouge" and "Romeo and Juliet" to the not so high "Super Mario Brothers". Don't forget about his fine portrayal of Dr. Clemente on "ER".

I only hope that "The Happening" has a better ending than "Signs" or "The Village". If we are all lucky, it will be a return to "The Sixth Sense"
