Filmmaker Robert Rodriguez is joining forces with 20th Century Fox to reboot the 1980’s Arnold Schwarzenegger action franchise "Predator." The remake will helm a new title called "Predators," with Rodriguez attached to both produce and direct.
The official announcement came on Thursday, April 23rd in a news conference at Troublemaker Studios, which is located in Texas. Rodriguez was in attendance to discuss his very crowded upcoming film slate. “I'm going to be able to shoot my upcoming 'Machete' here, a sci-fi action film called 'Nerverackers,' a re-boot of the 'Predator' series called 'Predators,' and a couple of smaller movies called 'Sin City 2' and 'The Jetsons.'"
The Predator franchise came to a screeching halt after the critical failures of "Alien vs. Predator" and "Alien vs. Predator: Requiem," which were spinoffs associated with the Alien franchise originally starring Sigourney Weaver.
No casting rumors for "Predators" have surfaced as of yet. The film is rumored to have a release date falling somewhere within 2010.
