A glimpse at the upcoming Boston film, The Fighter

The first images of David O. Russell's The Fighter have surfaced. Starring Mark Wahlberg, Christian Bale, and Amy Adams, this is the story of Boston boxer "Irish Mickey Ward (Wahlberg). Bale plays his trainer Dicky Eklund and Adams portrays the woman Mickey falls for.

The film has a very interesting cast and I believe that at least two of it's star are in need of a universal hit. Wahlberg hasn't had a great performance since his Oscar-nominated role in Martin Scorsese's The Departed (although The Lovely Bones looks very promising) and Christian Bale is still trying to perform damage control since his infamous rant on the set of Terminator Salvation (however his skill as an actor should never be put into question). If David O Russell can return to his directorial style he displayed in Three Kings (also starring Wahlberg), The Fighter could be quite a treat. The Fighter is set to released in 2010.
