Extended Avatar Trailer Tickets Available on Monday

You may have heard about James Cameron's latest passion project Avatar. If you haven't, come out from under the bridge where you are currently living and get ready for "Avatar Day," coming up on August 21st.

Starting August 17th, tickets for a 16 minute IMAX trailer of Avatar will go on sale online. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the extended trailer will feature an on-camera intro by director James Cameron and will be released on 101 IMAX theaters in the U.S and Canada. The shorter/standard trailer will be released in 2-D and 3-D on the same day, August 21st.

Says Fox distribution boss Bruce Snyder, “It will be two tickets to a customer to keep people from hoarding. We expect a tremendous amount of interest from the fans who are aware of Avatar."

The extended Avatar trailer will play just before and after separately ticketed performances for Warner Bros.’ Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. It will play twice between 6-7pm. Check your local IMAX theater for more details.

Avatar is the first feature for James Cameron since Titanic. With a budget reportedly between $230-$300, expect this to the movie event of the holiday season, with its release on December 18th, 2009.
