Great Music: Pearl Jam "World Wide Suicide" and "Unemployable"

Pearl Jam They say it's impossible to wear out a CD, but I'm pretty sure I played "Ten" and "Vs." into oblivion.

Alas, my Pearl Jam infatuation faded when Eddie Vedder and the boys ventured into artsy waters. I respected their disdain for commerce-driven music, but the songs themselves didn't have the grungy hookiness I loved so much.

So you can imagine my surprise when I popped by iTunes and checked out Pearl Jam's latest release, the "World Wide Suicide" single and the accompanying b-side, "Unemployable." Suddenly, hooks and riffs and punk-snarl goodness were swirling from my speakers! Crank "Yellow Ledbetter" and pass the flannel, it's 1993 all over again!

I have no idea if May 2's album (titled simply, "Pearl Jam") will follow the lead of these two songs. If it does, I'll be downloading with glee ... and wearing flannel.
