"Battlestar Galactica" Renewed For Season Three

Battlestar Galactica The SciFi Channel announced that it has renewed the popular series "Battlestar Galactica" for a third season.

Eager fans were left on the edge of their seats with a cliff-hanger September 23rd that pitted the Galactica and its crew against the previously presumed-lost Battlestar Pegasus and its higher ranking officer Admiral Cain, played by Michelle Forbes. The season is set to resume January 6th, 2006.

A "reimagining" of the popular - yet short-lived - 1978 series of the same name, the new "Galactica" has forged a distinct path for itself. Initially, skeptical fans balked at some of the changes to favorite characters. For example, redesigning the role of Starbuck, played by "A-Team" pretty-boy Dirk Benedict in the 1978 series, with the tough-but-sexy Katee Sackhoff took series purists some getting used to. The decision has proven a sweeping success, however, adding some titillating tension between two of the show's main characters.

According to SciFi Wire, the entire ensemble cast, which includes Edward James Olmos, Mary McDonnell, Katee Sackhoff, Jamie Bamber, James Callis, Tricia Helfer and Grace Park, will be returning for the new season. Also returning are executive producer and writer Ronald D. Moore and executive producer David Eick. -- Shannon Nolley

Thank GOD! With the cancellation of "Arrested Development" I was beginning to worry that the TV landscape would soon become very barren. "Battlestar" is, without a doubt, one of the best shows on TV. I'm absolutely riveted every time I watch this show. And Starbuck? AWESOME.
