Claudia Black Joins "SG-1" Regular Cast
The SciFi Channel has announced that Claudia Black, of "Farscape" fame, will be joining the regular cast of the original series "Stargate SG-1" in its upcoming 10th season.
Black plays the recurring role of Vala, a "scheming, unscrupulous, theiving con artist." The principal cast members of "SG-1," Ben Browder (also from "Farscape"), Amanda Tapping, Christopher Judge, Michael Shanks and Beau Bridges, have all signed on to reprise their roles.
Black and Browder previously played the two main roles (and steamy love interests) on "Farscape," also a SciFi Channel series. Black was nominated Best Actress on Television by Saturn Awards (sponsored by the The Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Films) in 2001 and 2002. She won the award in 2005.
"Stargate SG-1" becomes the longest-running sci-fi drama on U.S. television and will celebrate its 200th episode in the upcoming season.
"SG-1" aired the last new episode of its ninth season on September 16th before going on its mid-season break. The season will resume on January 6, 2006. -- Shannon Nolley
The last episode of season 9 has not been aired yet. That will occur in April. Right now SG-1 is on their mid season break.
