"Half Light" Resurrects Ghosts for Demi Moore
ETOnline is reporting that the former "Ghost" star Demi Moore is returning to the supernatural genre with her new thriller "Half Light" in which she is haunted by another deceased loved-one. Art is also imitating Moore's life in the film - her character dates (gasp!) a younger man.
Apart from her well-publicized romance and marriage last October to younger beau Ashton Kutcher, Moore has shied away from the intense Hollywood spotlight over the last several years. Taking smaller, less time-consuming roles, Moore has focused much of her attention to raising her three daughters. It was this maternal devotion that convinced director Craig Rosenberg that, according to Preview Online, Moore was perfect for the lead in "Half Light."
Moore stars as Rachael Carson, a successful mystery writer living in London. Her life is shattered following the accidental drowning of her 5-year-old son in a local pond. After her marriage begins to unravel and she develops writing block, she seeks solitude and rest at a secluded cottage in a remote fishing village in Scotland. As she begins to immerse herself in the life of the village and its residents, she takes particular interest in Angus, the keeper of a secluded lighthouse. Meanwhile, Rachel believes that she is receiving messages from her recently departed son causing paranoia and chaos that threatens her sanity and her life.
The film also stars Henry Ian Cusick as Moore's husband Brian Forester. Cusick also recently appeared as the recurring character of Desmond on TV's "Lost." (see Filmfodder's entry on Desmond's appearance in the "Lost" episode "Man of Science, Man of Faith.")
"Half Light" was produced by First Look Pictures and distributed by Lakeshore Entertainment distribution. It will be released to DVD January 17th, 2006. -- Shannon Nolley
The role of Angus, the lighthouse keeper and potential love interest of Demi Moore's character, is played by Hans Matheson. Hans was recently seen in the PBS miniseries "The Virgin Queen" as the Earl of Essex and was also the lead role of yury Zhivago in the PBS production of "Doctor Zhivago" opposite Keira Knightley.
Henry Ian Cusick plays Brian Forrester, the (ex) husband of Rachel.
