"BloodRayne" Movie Finally Released

Rayne"BloodRayne" - director Uwe Boll's latest video game adaptation - will finally hit theaters on January 6th. Boll also directed two other game adaptations - "House of the Dead" and "Alone in the Dark," which were ill-received by critics.

Early reviews of "BloodRayne" indicate that the new film will follow this trend.

"BloodRayne" the movie was announced way back in August of 2004. Rumors about its release have been circulating for some time. The consensus seems to be that release was delayed because the movie has not met with positive response from viewers (read: they think it stinks).

Based on the popular video game, the film, set in eighteenth century Romania, centers around a sexy, supernatural huntress named Rayne (played by "Terminator 3" star Kristanna Loken) who is a breed of half human and half vampire called dhampir. Rayne is recruited by the Brimstone Society, a secret agency which hunts down and eliminates supernatural threats around the globe, to help them in their battle against her father - the most feared and deadliest of creatures - the evil Kagan, King of the Vampires.

"BloodRayne" also stars Michael Madsen ("Sin City") as Vladimir, Billy Zane ("Sole Survivor") as Elrich, Michelle Rodriguez (TV's "Lost") as Katarin, Ben Kingsley ("Suspect Zero") as Kagan, and Matthew Davis ("Legally Blonde") as Sebastian. Zane's company is also distributing the film. -- Shannon Nolley
