"Serenity" DVD Sneak Peak
According to the SciFi Channel, an exclusive preview of an extended scene from the much anticipated "Serenity" DVD release has been posted on its website on "the Trailers" page.
For the uninitiated, "Serenity" is the movie extension to Joss Whedon's space western series "Firefly."
The clip features more of the Shepherd Book character, played by Ron Glass. It's not an entirely satisfying snippet (in length or material), but it's a decent teaser for the film's fans. Other features on the DVD also include commentary from writer/director Whedon, other deleted scenes and outtakes, several featurettes (including "Future History," "The Story of Earth That Was," "What's in a Firefly" and "Re-Lighting the Firefly"), and an introduction by Lord Joss himself.
The DVD will be released on December 20th - just in time for the holidays. If sales are good, there's hope for Whedon and "Firefly" fans that rumors may pan out and some sort of movie (television, feature film or whatever) will be slated. Eager fans are chomping at the bit for more. (Hint! Hint! Amazon is selling it for only $16.98 AND is eligible for FREE Super Saver Shipping on orders over $25! COME ON! Buy! Buy! Buy!)
When shopping this holiday season, just remember this: "I'm a leaf on the wind. I'm a leaf on the wind." If you don't get that reference, you'll just have to buy the DVD and find out for yourself. (OK. Yes. I want all the "Firefly" I can get. Is that so wrong?) -- Shannon Nolley
I was way late to the game on "Firefly," but after catching most of the episodes on Sci-Fi I *really* hope the show comes back in some form. The TV landscape needs more Joss.
