Is it me, or is "Supernatural" finally hitting its stride? I've been watching since the beginning. While it's been mildly entertaining from the start, lately it's really picked up.
Last week, our hunters of all things malevolent from the preternatural world (you know, Sam and Dean) took on some very natural crazy humans. True, the stereotype of the crazed in-bred family of killers in Hicksville, USA is getting tired, but they were able to make it work. Maybe it was guest star Jessica Steen who I liked way back in "Earth 2." I'm not sure, but it was still one of the most interesting things on television that week (next to "Lost" and "Battlestar").
This week, Sam and Dean checked out a mysterious death in Chicago and ran into Meg (guest star Nicki Aycox - the girl from the bus station in the "Scarecrow" episode). The brothers are also finally reunited with their father, who has been playing possum since the show began. Just when you thought the story was over and they were going to tie things up nice and neat, BLAM - they throw in a curve. Usually I can predict these things but I wasn't expecting this. Or - maybe I was just distracted by the terribly cute duo of Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki.
Fans should note that Supernatural will be moving to Thursday nights after "Smallville" starting March 16th. That means it'll be up against "CSI" and "My Name is Earl." Either the network think it's a strong contender against these popular shows, or it's testing it to see if it's worthy to make the jump to the CW network. I'm hoping it's the former since it's been nominated with "Smallville" for Best Network Television Series by the Saturn Awards.
Why do they keep pitting my favorite show up against each other?!?! It's so annoying. It really does beg for all shows to be available for purchase. iTunes has been somewhat helpful with this, but it's still too limited for my taste. Need... more... sci-fi.. As always. -- Shannon Nolley
