According to Variety, Ving Rhames is set to star in the CW's "Aquaman" TV series currently entitled "Mercy Reef."
The project will see Rhames returning to TV after his last series, "Kojak," had an all-too brief revival on the USA Network last year.
Rhames will play McCaffery, a lighthouse keeper who serves as mentor to series lead A.C. Curry (aka Aquaman). Last month, the studio announced that Will Toale will play the lead of Curry. Denise Quinones has also joined the cast as Navy fighter pilot Rachel Starling, a potential love interest for Curry.
Rhames has also starred in "Dawn of the Dead," the first two "Mission: Impossible" features and first enthralled Hollywood in his role as Marsellus Wallace in 1994's "Pulp Fiction." He will next be seen in the feature "Mission: Impossible 3." --Shannon Nolley
UPDATE: TV Fodder is reporting that Will Toale has just been replaced by Justin Hartley (TV's "Passions") as the lead!
