Bridges Dishes On The Bizarre "Tideland"

Jeff Bridges ("Seabiscuit") had a few things to say to SciFi Wire about his work on the upcoming fantasy-tinged film "Tideland," which reunites him with his "Fisher King" director, Terry Gilliam.

Classifying it as one of the "most bizarre films" he's ever seen let alone worked on, Bridges said the project is "bizarre for even Terry, so that's saying quite a bit."

If you don't know Gilliam's work offhand (and why it might be considered a bit "odd"), he has also helmed "Monty Python and the Holy Grail," "Time Bandits," "Twelve Monkeys," "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas," and last year's "The Brothers Grimm."

"Tideland" stars Jodelle Ferland ("Silent Hill" and "Kingdom Hospital") as Jeliza-Rose, a lonely little girl with a vivid imagination who moves with her drug-addled rock-star father (Bridges) into an isolated farmhouse following the death of her mother, who was also a junkie. The film is based on the book by Mitch Cullen.

You should check out the film's website if you wants a glimpse into just how "bizarre" this film is.  I can't wait to see it!

The producers of "Tideland" are currently seeking a US distributor.  The film is scheduled to be released in several European countries in June.  --Shannon Nolley
