According Apple Insider, Fox has released 16 of its series to the iTunes Music Store for download. Most notably for sci-fi fans are the "classic" series "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" (it looks to be only the first season so far), "Firefly" (including the unaired episodes) and "Lost in Space."
This is a big coup as we enter the long summer months when most of our favorite series - like "Battlestar Galactica," "SG-1," "Supernatural" and soon "Lost" - are on their season breaks.
Fox also released episodes of "24," "Prison Break," "The Shield," and the FX series "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia."
Apparently, it's the largest network debut to date on iTunes, which - with the addition of these series - offers over 90 television shows for $1.99 per episode.
An interesting note on the "Firefly" episodes - some folks (I won't point fingers) are reporting that Apple slipped and released the full-length version of the feature film "Serenity" for $1.99.

Well, as much as I'd like that to be true so everyone can see this great film, it just ain't. The "Serenity" listed as #1 is actually the first two episodes of the series entitled "Serenity - Part 1 & 2." If you don't believe me, check out the episode info on TV.com.
I highly recommend "Firefly" if you don't own it already. After familiarizing yourself with the crew of Serenity (it's the name of the ship in the series, in case you didn't know that already), you should go out and buy the DVD of the film. It's worth it.
Ok. Fine. What I really want is you to give Joss Whedon your money so we can get a sequel, people! We need more tales of Malcolm Reynolds! Seriously. -- Shannon Nolley
okay i need to see the new Doctor Who series. it isnt on netflix yet. is it on iTunes?!
have you seen it shan?
-- Posted by: minnie at May 10, 2006 4:05 PMThanks Louis!
Minnie - well, the series is airing on the SciFi channel these days. if you don't have cable then you may have to wait for the DVDs to be released. I haven't seen it on iTunes yet. Most likely because Universal will be releasing the DVDs soon. Doctor Who - The Complete First Season (of the new UK series) will be released July 4.
-- Posted by: shannon at May 10, 2006 5:27 PMThe good news about the Firefly downlaods is that they inclue the "here's how it is" and "previously" intros that are not on the DVD.
The bad news is that they're in the wrong order. The pilot is listed first, but the rest are shown in the order they were aired on Fox (which was not the intended order), with the unaired episodes tacked on at the end. So a lot of the plot points are out of order.
