Rowling Says Two "Potter" Characters Will Die
Author J.K. Rowling told the Associated Press that two main characters will die in the last installment of her "Harry Potter" series. What's more - she hinted that Harry himself might be one to go.
Rowling said that while she's never been tempted to kill Harry off before because she always planned to complete seven books, she can understand why authors kill off their main characters - it prevents (or at least makes very difficult) sequels written by other authors. "So it will end with me, and after I'm dead and gone they won't be able to bring back the character," she said.
However, she's not committing herself one way or the other about Harry's fate. She doesn't want to open the gates on the truckloads of hate mail that would undoubtedly be sent her way.
"The last book is not finished. But I'm well into it now. I wrote the final chapter in something like 1990, so I've known exactly how the series is going to end," she said.
"The final chapter is hidden away, although it's now changed very slightly. One character got a reprieve. But I have to say two die that I didn't intend to die," she added. "A price has to be paid. We are dealing with pure evil here. They don't target extras do they? They go for the main characters. Well, I do."
That's just one of the reasons that the series is so good. Rowling isn't afraid to dole out a dash of "reality" with her fantasy. It's also one of the reasons she's the richest woman in Britain - even wealthier than the queen. Now that's some good reality.
Not to worry Harry fans, Warner Brothers has many more years of movies to churn out. The fifth installment of the boy wizard series, "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix," will be released in U.S. theaters on July 13, 2007. -- Shannon Nolley
Agreed, but remember she only hinted that he might die.

And since there are people that don't like to read, the movies are enjoyable to them. And watching the movies is fun! If you've read the books over 10 times (like me) u can compare the book to the movie and when others are confused, you know what's going on. We should watch the last movie to show J.K. Rowling that we're still her fans.

It might be a good idea to kill of Harry if she does not want any more films made, but now why should we watch the last film if we know what is going to happen.
