New Flavors of "Bertie's Botts"
Hasbro has announced that it will be adding two new flavors in 2007 to its "Harry Potter" inspired jelly bean line, Bertie Bott's Every Flavored Beans. The new flavors will be pickle and sausage. Yup - I said pickle and sausage flavored jelly beans.
Disgusting, you say? Well, so did the reviewers at Candy Addict - even the one that professed to love pickles! However, they especially hated the sausage flavored beans, saying they '...tasted worse than vomit', which, unsurprisingly, is another of the available flavors.
Bertie Bott's are a creation in the "Harry Potter" universe. They are a brand of jelly beans that can taste like anything - literally anything! My kids and I have shared a pack of these beans and had a great time with them. There are some very nice flavors (marshmallow, pina colada, chocolate mousse) and some extremely disgusting flavors (dirt, vomit, sardines). The sardines flavor was my lucky selection (yeuch). The greatness of this product is not that it is a great candy. The fun is in the game of randomly eating the beans and seeing if you get a disgusting one. Think 'Russian Roulette' with jelly beans. They are great as a gag gift, or just as a regular snack for the crowd who will enjoy the 'How to Eat Fried Worms' movie. I'd really avoid the Sardine and Sausage combo, though.
